This blog couldn't of came at a better time. Did you vote on november the 4th? I did and I am pleased to learn all our representatives got re-elected. Our senators are Lamar Alexander and Robert "Bob" Corker. Our congressman is John "Jimmy" Duncan. Bill Haslam is our Govenor. Lamar and Jimmy have been in office since my teenage years or shortly after. Ha I am telling my old age.

I agreed with the representatives on Immigration. it is a problem that had turned into a huge dilimea. The legislators have made laws guarding our border. Why does the federal government not uphold the law. Well, I learned about a group called the "Minuteman Project", which consists of citizens survelliuance of our mexican border for illegal immigrants. I personally am against my hard earned money going to someone who isn't an American citizen and is in our country illegal. I as an American citizen don't get any of those benefits. The representatives also voted English the language. Well, duh it is America we sure aren't in Mexico.

The thing I disagreed with is Homeland Security. The Transportation Security, and The Federal Air Marshall program. I started looking into the Air Marshals and it was disturbing what I found! Before 9/11 there was 33 federal air marshals. Today, it is between 3,000 and 4,000. The actual amount is classified imagine that. There have been 36 Federal Air Marshals arrested since 9/11.  The charges consisted of DUI, Domestic Violence, discharging a firearm at a bar during a fight, Drug smuggling, and possession of stolen government property. Some had felonies and were hired anyway. Really, come on this how the terrorists got in the country to begin with. Does that make you safe people? I knew there was a reason my feet don't leave the ground!

I commented on Matt Cooper, Nikki Stair, and Stacey Clark

  1. I am also pleased with the election results. We have very good representatives for our state. I also agree with you on immigration. We shouldnt have to give up benefits that are suppose to be for U S citizens just because people come here illegally. We are probably the only country that allows this to happen.

  2. as always i enjoy ur post. i couldnt agree more with the immigration/border issues and problems. it is out of control and it is not minor or funny anymore. we have serious problems with illegal immigrants and serious problems with latinos who are slowly invading our country and language. i treat all peoples the same-we are all humans and we all deserve justice and being treated fairly. however, i do not agree with illegal immigrants and free benefits and the taking of jobs and lowering of wages. the mexicans and latinos are taking over this country-i am 40 yrs old and in my life-wow-i have seen the mexicans-and spanish-slowly-bit by bit-invade our country and take over more and more. it is truly sad to me-in the end they are here because big business and money want them here. whats sad-is business has made profits off all these illegal immigrants-but it is all of us who deal and will deal with the other consequences. sorry my response is so long-but i have enjoyed your posts-your views-your opinions-this entire class. it seems so many people dont understand what is going on in our own backyard. if things continue-the latinos will be the majority-and our country and language will suffer

  3. Hey Donna! I like to see how we have a mutual concern regarding immigration in our country. Unfortunately, it is a huge issue that no one can come up with a solid solution for. I don’t like the idea of my money paying illegal immigrant guards either. I’d even rather have it go to someone else maybe to just think of a better idea for our current efforts against illegal immigration. I could even say the same for the Federal Air Marshall’s program. It is ridiculous that we trust our government to use our tax money properly but pay for inadequate safety solutions such as these.

  4. Nice post, I enjoyed reading it. I too was very pleased with election day results for the most part. I think Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander are doing a good job overall in representing our state. I'm not the biggest fan of my district's representative, but considering he won his election easily, I must be alone in feeling that way. Immigration has always been a big issue, though I think the border crisis this year made more people aware of the situation. It bothers me how much money is spent on people that aren't even citizens in our country, especially when a lot of those people came here illegally. I think their is corruption in a lot of our police and security programs, so it doesn't surprise me that you found that in those programs you mentioned.

  5. I agree with you that the illegal immigration issue has skyrocketed. Does anyone remember the national news on Temecula, CA protesting the buses of immigrants that were going to be sent to a facility there? They protested so much so that the buses was forced to turn back and go to another facility. Everyone called those residents racists and bigots, but many of those people probably were my neighbors because I lived ten minutes from Temecula, CA. Whether all of them were simply protesting or if some of them really were being discriminatory, I don't know, but I do know their frustrations. I have nothing against immigrants personally, but I grew up in a state directly north of Mexico's border and saw the consequences first hand of so many undocumented aliens in the area. One may not seem like much but it's amazing when that one becomes one million...

  6. I definitely agree with you about our tax dollars going to illegal immigrants. My mother works in a hospital and they are required to accept patients with no insurance (even an illegal immigrant) but they can deny care to an American with no insurance. And who's paying for their care? We are. I also don't agree they can make more money than an American with no legal status and/or no degree or certification.
